Choicer Voicer Windows Microphone Permission Checklist

Windows must first expose the microphone to desktop applications. This page narrows the fault with ordinary OS checks; it does not claim that a Windows setting can solve every Godot or game-specific recording failure.

Verification policy

Unverified experiment. The original query failed the competition gate because multiple sources already answered it.

Confirm microphone access

Open Windows microphone privacy settings and allow microphone access for desktop applications. The wording can differ by Windows version, so follow Microsoft's current screen rather than an old screenshot.

Confirm the selected device

  • Choose the intended physical microphone as the current input.
  • Speak and check that the operating-system input meter moves.
  • Record and play back a short phrase in a basic recorder.
  • Avoid changing sample rate, routing, and device at the same time.

Retest the official demo

After the OS recording passes, reopen the No Gameplay Demo and repeat the same phrase. If the demo alone fails, preserve that difference as evidence rather than cycling through many undocumented tweaks.

Unknown after a clean OS pass

A clean Windows recording proves the hardware reaches Windows. It does not prove the game can enumerate or record that device, and it does not identify a single engine bug. Report the exact configuration to the developer.
